Surprise! Happy 50th Grandpa Rick

May 17 we surprised Grandpa Rick with a birthday party. He turned 50 years young on May 4 and we had to celebrate. He thought he was coming over to visit Liam – well he was, along with about 15 other of his closest friends and family.

This is Rick’s confused look, when we opened the door and yelled “surprise!”

Rick smiles as he starts to realize what’s going on.

Rick looks around and takes it all in. . .

Liam hangs out with his Great Grandma Fusa. As Great Grandpa Clay would say, “It’s the mutual admiration society.”

It was a hot day, Liam enjoys his cold watermelon.

Aunt Jonie shows Liam how to use the old fart walker to get around.

Liam whispers to his Grandpa Rick that he doesn’t look a day over 30.

Who are you calling old? Rick is a good sport when it comes to all the ole 50 stuff.

Liam really looks up to his Great Grandpa Clay. Hawaiian shirts are one of those things that cross over generations.

Liam, the tissue magician, performs at the party. Just give me a few minutes and the tissue will disappear.

Ta – da! The tissue is gone. (Never mind the mess on the ground.)

If you couldn’t tell from Rick’s t-shirt, he loves classic cars. Especially his ‘67 Camaro that he is restoring. I made him a classic car quilt. Complete with Camaro polar fleece on the back.

Rick, King of all Camaros. I don’t know what he was thinking, it was 90 degrees outside.

Don’t worry Uncle Dan, I’ll protect you from the bubbles.

Liam thinks real hard about whether or not he can reach the bubble.
