Lakefair Fountain Fun

August 24, 2009

DSCF3547Every year in late July, the City of Olympia has a big party downtown called LakeFair. It’s a carnival, festival and fair wrapped up in one.

We were hoping Liam would be able to ride some of the rides, but of course he was an inch too short (even with his hair!) It was such a hot day that we decided to instead spend our time in the downtown fountain – we had a TON of fun!

A horse? A lion? Who knows. . .

June 12, 2009

LionHorseThumbnailI’ve been going through Liam’s stuff, cleaning out toys he doesn’t play with, clothes that are too small or too hot for the summer.

In the process, I came across his costumes, which Liam was pleased to play with. He looked very cute in each of the costumes, but putting them together. . .that’s another story.

First sprinkler of the summer

June 12, 2009

JuneSprinklerThumbnailLast week the weather was hot and Elmo the Sprinkler was calling to us.

Liam had a wonderful time playing in the water, although he’s very unsure of it. He won’t run through it, just approach it slowly and then run away. I suppose he’ll learn before too long that it’s hard to outrun a sprinkler and the real fun is getting sprinkled.

A day at the museum

June 12, 2009

OlyChildrensThumbnail;Last week Liam and I took a “field trip” to the Olympia Children’s Museum. Last fall I splurged for a year-long membership and I’m embarrassed at how little we’ve used it. Liam had so much fun that even after two hours of running around he still didn’t want to leave!

May 27, 2009

MayCampThumbnailOn Sunday after Jeremy’s party, we headed out to Riffe Lake to catch the tail end of the Clarke family tradition of camping for Memorial Day. We love it out there – the views, the nature, the family, the food, the great memories. It’s always a good time.

One dirty kid.

May 18, 2009

Elma_ThumbnailSummer is here! With warm weather comes playing outside and it didn’t take Liam long to have his first head-to-toe mess from the mud and dirt. He loved every minute of it, and I have to admit, I did too. I love seeing him so happy, even if in the back of mind I’m wondering how I’m going to get his clothes clean again.

Our little frog friend

April 18, 2009

april17frog9thumbnailWhile working in the yard yesterday a little frog jumped out of a flower pot. It was the first frog that Liam’s seen and he wasn’t quite sure what to think.

Liam wanted to touch the little frog so bad, but every time he’d get close, it would jump and it would freak him out.

Mr. Baker-man

April 2, 2009

cookiesthumbnailLiam and I made oatmeal raisin cookies today. He loves cookies. He says “cookie, cookie, cookie,” all day long. Lots of things qualify as a cookie – crackers, bread, muffins – it’s all a “cookie.” He loves to be mom’s helper – so combining the two things makes Liam VERY happy.

Sliding into spring

March 25, 2009

march_thumbnailIn hopes that sunny, warm weather will come soon we went to the playground before dinner one night when the sky looked particularly blue (not gray). It was cold, but fun.
