Not a baaaah-d afternoon!

Today we took a family field trip to Lattin’s Country Cider Mill and Farm and boy did we have a good time!
Apple fritters, cider, goats, pigs, cows, peacocks – Liam was beside himself with glee.
The farm is only about 20 minutes from our house and I’ve been meaning to take Liam out there for quite some time. A client commissioned me to write a feature article about the farm, so it gave us perfect opportunity to head over for some pictures and a tour. The Lattin family has lived on the land for 52 years. In the last 33 years it’s been a destination for school field trips, festivals and most of all – delicious baked goods and award-winning apple cider, made right on site.
Grammy and Papoo (Grandpa) Clarke joined in the fun and we are so glad they did. Liam didn’t know what to think when we arrived.

We started off in the barn/store where the Lattin’s sell all of their homemade cider, jams, pies (I could go on and on). Liam found the best part of the store – an old-school horsey toy. You can’t find these things anymore (at least not like they used to make them), so this was Liam’s first joy ride on a bouncy horse. You can see from the photo that he’s a cowboy at heart and loving every minute of his bouncing, gallopy goodness.

Lots of beautiful apples from East of the mountains. The owner was telling me that the same man has delivered their apples for the last 33 years. I guess he started when he was 16 and still brings them their apples.

More beautiful apples. We got 5 lbs of apples free because I had a coupon (believe it or not), from a local olympian coupon book.

After Grammy bought some apple fritters and donuts, apples and some jams we headed out front to take the horse carousel for a ride. This is also a Liam first and again he’s loving every minute.

Just around the corner we spotted some peacocks and this one was really showing off for his female friend.

A turkey!

This was by far the best part of the trip – goats! Grammy bought Liam a bag of feed for 60 cents and he was able to feet the goats. He figured it out pretty quick and guess what. . .

He LOVED it! Look at the joy on this kids face after feeding the goat for the first time. Priceless.

Liam feeds the baby goats.

So cute! A kid feeding a kid.

Did I mentioned how much he absolultely LOVED it!? It’s the best 60 cents you can spend these days (thanks Grammy!)

We pose in front of the goats. Melinda had a goat try to eat the back of her shirt!

After feeding the goats (and washing our hands), Liam had a Cider smoothy. It’s cider made on site, mixed with ice to create a delicious drink that hit the spot on this hot day. Liam looks at it with wonder.

He decided he liked it and then he was down to business.

He did offer his daddy some, which was sweet and unexpected.

Grammy took a photo of Liam in the apple tree!

We had so much fun and I’m sure we’ll back soon – especially if Liam has his way.

[...] The photos are from Lattin’s Cider Mill and Farm, which is in the Olympia area. While writing the article I decided we should go visit because it sounded like so much fun. We went with Grandma Melinda and Grandpa Rick and I posted on the blog about our adventure. [...]
