Thanksgiving Weekend
December 1, 2008
Whew! What a busy week it’s been. I apologize for the lack of postings, we’ve been busy!
In a nutshell this weekend included Seahawks, turkey, shopping, lint, laughter, dancing, a parade, Santa and strawberry milkshakes! I hardly know where to start. . .
I don’t have photos from most of this. . .but I’ll give you a quick run down.
- We enjoyed a relaxed and fun Thanksgiving at Chris and Dan’s house where we watched a Seahawks game and ate way too much. Liam loves pumpkin pie and cool whip, but who doesn’t?
- We went shopping Friday and found some great Christmas deals
- On Friday, Jeremy went to a high school football game with his dad in Tacoma.
- On Saturday, Jeremy and Liam had an awesome visit with Great Grandpa and Great Grandma.
- I spent at least an hour Saturday under the house in our crawl space cleaning out the dryer ducts. Our dryer hasn’t worked for two weeks. The Maytag repairman has “fixed” it four times and most recently blamed it on our vents. Cleaned those out and dryer still only worked for 20 minutes before overheating.
- I went to the St. Martin’s craft bazaar with a friend of mine. Guess what!? I found a shelf and it was marked free! I asked the vendor about it and she said, “Yep, it’s yours. . . I always put something free in my booth every year. The person who finds it, gets it!” My free-dar never lets me down!
Sunday was the most fun of all. We spent most of the day in downtown Olympia experiencing all kinds of holiday cheer.

They were offering free rides in the horse drawn cart. We didn’t hitch a ride but Liam loved the horses!

After indulging in some holiday coffee bliss from Starbucks, we headed to the Painted Plate, a shop in downtown Olympia where you can paint your own ceramics. We made some Christmas presents. . . shhh, it’s a secret!
The highlight of the day was a holiday parade. It was the first one for Liam and he was so excited! When the first part passed, he started whining because he was he thought it was “over”, but then he realized it just kept coming. . .and he was thrilled! He didn’t take his eyes off the road, in fear that he might miss something big.

The Tenino Motorcycle Drill team

There were lots of very cool old cars

Liam claps for the parade

Bagpipers!

Liam’s first candy cane!

Here comes our favorite float. Check out Santa in the front seat of the sleigh. Let’s go in for a close up.

It’s the best looking Santa we’ve ever seen! He slightly resembles Uncle Dan? Strange.

Mrs. Claus looks like Aunt Chris. . .weird!
Here is a video of Liam dancing to the Capitol High School band. He loved the music!
The fun couldn’t end there. We had worked up an appetite and went to dinner at Red Robin. We haven’t eaten at Red Robin in ages. I think Jeremy and I figured I was pregnant the last time we ate there together. It’s a very kid friendly place and I think it’s now Liam’s favorite restaurant.
We decided to treat Liam to a yummy milkshake. . .he was just a little thrilled. . .ooh brain freeze!

Oooh, that sweet, cold, strawberry goodness! He couldn’t get enough! Check out the little pinky sticking up in the air. . .because you must be proper!

Although he was sucking through a straw, he figured if he lifted the cup up, he’d get more. . .faster! All he did was get it on the front of his shirt.

Yum!

His first steak fry. . .look at the wonder in his eyes, hehe.

Here he eats some healthy black beans, as he eyes his milkshake. You can see the excitement and the sugar high. (Grandparents – don’t get any ideas. This doesn’t mean he gets to eat milkshakes and french fries when he visits – this was a special occasion!)
We get home yesterday after our busy weekend, and there was a strange message from an unidentified caller saying, “Heather. . .we need a blog update. . .bye!” It was my mom, who leaves random messages like this all the time. She needs her fix of Liam’s photos – hope it was everything you wanted mom!
We hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful weekend. We are so grateful for all our family and friends. . . and music and milkshakes.
