Rain pitter-patter, Liam the madhatter
October 6, 2008
The rain has come. After a beautiful summer and September, the rain is now here and we can expect nothing but rain (and the occasional rainbow or snow) for the next six months.
I pulled out a rain/sun hat for Liam and we played out in the wet front yard.
The hat he is wearing is one Grandma Jennifer bought for him while she was down this summer, but it was a bit too big when we first got it. I think it’s supposed to be a bumble bee. Liam really likes it and after I pulled it out of the closet he kept putting it on himself – which is something he doesn’t do with his baseball caps. It has a matching umbrella, which I tried to get Liam to use, but he couldn’t figure out why you would hold it over your head – you couldn’t see the bumble bee if you did that. I’m sure he’ll have it figured out before the winter is over.
Liam pretty much just ran around the yard, picking up leaves and pulling up dead flowers. He was running so fast, paying so little attention, that he kept tripping, and falling into the wet grass. He soon became soggy, cold and filthy – but he was having fun.
He kept wanting to play in the mole hills – which on sunny days I’ve let him play with – but today after a weekend of rain, were huge piles of mud. I wouldn’t let him play with them and he was not happy with me.
He ran over to his plastic pool which is hanging out, full of rain water on the edge of the yard. He tripped on a rock and he landed in the pool up to his shoulders. Cold rain water all over him only slowed him down for a second before he headed back for the mole hill. Sigh.
Liam got really mad when we had to go back in the house and take his wet, cold clothes off. He was especially angry to have his shoes removed. He LOVES his shoes and would wear them 24/7 if I let him. I had to put them over a heater vent to dry out and he was mad he couldn’t wear them or carry them around. Such is life.
Check out photos of Liam running around outside. . .

My nephew looks like has fun on a daily basis. He has a great set of parents.
I enjoy seeing my grandson on a daily basis by visiting the website. He is getting to be quite the boy! Thanks for always updating it. I love it and I love you guys!…Grampa Scott
